Creativity is a life saver

I've had a tuff few years and there are days I just can't find my happy spot. I normally have a slightly childlike outlook on life, but my inner child hides some times. She has been avoiding me here lately. I did get her out of her hiding place this past Saturday when my friend Becky came by and we had a play day with poly clay. It's a really open ended creative tool for jewelry making. It becomes whatever your skills and imagination will let it be. We had a good day playing and experimenting. Took a break and had a great lunch at the Slick Pig, one of my new fav BBQ places in Murfreesboro.

I felt so much better after a couple of hours of creative play. Bouncing ideas back and forth and just wondering what would happen if we tried this or that with the clay.

Good things always come out of a day shared with friends and crafting.

The Boro Art Crawl is this coming Friday night 6:00 - 9:00. I am almost ready, just need to tag the new stuff.  The weather will be nice that day too! I always enjoy the art crawl so much. You can see the work of the other artists at the link above. To see the map for the business that are opening their shops to the art invasion just use this map.

The Year of The Dog is being recognized at this crawl
Here little foot prints that touch our hearts are

This is my favorite Year of the Dog piece.
The furry baby Mom bracelet.

Delicate  rose and old key with Czech glass beads.

One day last week I used my day off for drawing. I'd not done anything in a good while. I had transferred this drawing on to board but never started the color. So I started right after breakfast and it was done by the afternoon.

Acrylic paint, ink and prism color pencils

Olivia has very odd behavior (no different from other cats I'm sure) but I though this was so funny when I looked up and saw Mulder and Scully "looking at her"
She must have not liked being considered an X file
For she seems to be discussing it in depth with Fox

Life is never boring with a little fuzzy friend.

I hope your day at the Art Crawl is a wonderful success. You have some lovely pieces to offer.
I agree with Gene, your jewelry pieces are lovely and I hope you have a great "Art Crawl". Olivia reminds me of our cat sitting in front of the TV and looking in the "crack" trying to figure out where the football went. Too funny - ;))

Back to my everyday life

Well I've been most distracted last week with all the excitement of getting new counters and backsplash in my kitchen. There were only 2 things I wasn't thrilled with about my new house and now they are all the way I love. I did get a good bit of jewelry and sewing done while they were working in there just due to the fact I had to stay out of the way and I ended up in my happy room all day for several days. Forced into productivity - what ever it takes, right? I'm so tickled I have to show you. And a good thing my old counter tops went to a new home.  I also got the big one bowl sink I prefer. None of this was in my budget, but it makes me happy, I'll just cut back on, well most everything, but still got that big stupid grin going on.

I need to hang up my piggies don't I.

The weather here has been odd. Last week we were walking on the greenway in short sleeves and today it was in the 30's. Then we had a bad storm day yesterday, I was lucky and only got hail and …

Managing Time

One thing I have found during the last 10 months is I have trouble managing my time like I have in the past. Seems like distractions and life run all over the schedules I make. I sometimes wonder if I'm like the little dog in UP and get the squirrel distraction.
For what ever the reasons this blog has drifted off into my Scarlet area of "I'll deal with it tomorrow. "

With my first show of the year just a few weeks out I'd normally be in full swing of creating new pieces for the show. I have only started creating again a few months back and seem to be getting into the flow of working at my bench once again, thou now as regular as I did in the past.  Here are a few of the recent items.

This brass butterfly was given a rusted look with alcohol inks.
An old sewing machine bulb, the end of a fork and some wings created this pendant
The focal element of this necklace is from a vintage bracelet
Then one day I decided to get out the poly clay again.  I've not done anythin…
Today is a good day to stay in and work on projects and cook a big pot of veggie beef soup. The older I get the more I dislike cold weather. I have been busy with getting the etsy shop back up and loading items. The last 2 shows put a big dent in my inventory (yea!) so I need to be at the bench as much as I can.

I did spend the morning yesterday wrapping packages. I listened to Christmas music and it really got me in a happy mood.
Here is the new smaller tree.
It would seem that somehow in the move I lost or left all my wrapping paper.  So I got a new roll and a few bags.  I don't normally have it all matching.  My sister was teasing me that I'd had some of my wrapping paper for 10 years...maybe I had, hum.
My current quilting project is a table topper for a friend.  She is very fond of Red Birds.

Finished the big quilt that was on the "long arm" and how sad is this - I'm using it for a staging table for the items I'm listing on Etsy. I take photos, weigh jewelry and…
