Today is a good day to stay in and work on projects and cook a big pot of veggie beef soup. The older I get the more I dislike cold weather. I have been busy with getting the etsy shop back up and loading items. The last 2 shows put a big dent in my inventory (yea!) so I need to be at the bench as much as I can.

I did spend the morning yesterday wrapping packages.
I listened to Christmas music and it really got me in a happy mood.

Here is the new smaller tree.

It would seem that somehow in the move I lost
or left all my wrapping paper.
So I got a new roll and a few bags.
I don't normally have it all matching.
My sister was teasing me that I'd had some of my wrapping
paper for 10 years...maybe I had, hum.

My current quilting project is a table topper for a friend.
She is very fond of Red Birds.

Finished the big quilt that was on the "long arm" and how sad is this - I'm using it for a staging table for the items I'm listing on Etsy. I take photos, weigh jewelry and process into inventory all from the sewing machine. Of course the computer sits between 2 sewing machines in this room, so all the flat surfaces have many uses.

Tomorrow is Christmas Cookie day with Angel and Ian
Can't wait.

I use any good flat area for staging photos!
Your quilting looks great. There is quilting that I need to do, but I do it on my domestic machine. So I have to change to the quilting foot and do a little more setup.

Sewing Withdrawal

With my next jewelry show a mere 15 days away I've needless to say been twisting and hammering to get new items ready. This will be the last show of the year and I really need to get busy with my Christmas sewing. I have 2 projects on the machine cabinet ready to jump into - but that will be after Nov 12 when the show is. I did combine my two loves last week thou when I was at Stefanie's sewing. I started the base for 4 different fiber jewelry projects. I've always wanted to make one of the big fiber bib necklaces and got a good start on that - it's not done yet thou. These smaller mixed media pieces are finished.

Happy to say that I sold one of my fiber art wall hangings on my Etsy shop today.  It's always such a great feeling to know someone loves your work.  I like making wall hangings and post cards the best.  The freedom of knowing I can put anything into the art and  let my creativity run amuck is a wonderful thing.   So Stars In The Sand is now history.

Cute Quilted Cat Toy

This is Bonnie. She is the new addition to my sister's home.  We went out to meet Bonnie a few weeks ago and you just can't go empty handed so I whipped her up a little toy. Weeks later she is still playing with it and  my sister hasn't even refilled it with cat nip
As you can see I didn't do anything fancy, but it is after all going to be chewed on. So here is the simple little pattern for Bonnie's Fish.

I did just a little quilting on the front as much for stability as looks. I cut the batting a bit smaller than the front fabric and quilted. The back has an opening for adding cat nip, so I cut back fabric into 2 parts and turned the edges. Then sewed all the parts together. Just think of it as a funny little pot holder. You know the ones that have the split in the back for your hand to stick in. There is no wrong way with this little toy. It's for your little friend, and they will only see joy in it. You might want to wash all the fabrics first to remove any sizing/d…

Sewing Withdrawal

Well it's just been days since I've done any sewing - 7 as of today. I do feel like I'm not quite centered when no creating is going on. I have had time to squeeze in a little doodling but that's about it.
With Earth day this month I wanted to share the tote bag I made from a bird seed bag.  There was almost nothing left over from the original bag. They only thing tossed out  was from evening up the bottom. The wonderful Edna showed me how to make this. The only thing you need to keep in mind is don't use your regular sewing machine needle. She had me get a leather needle and it worked great. I just used regular thread too. So now Angel has a big old tote for her treasure hunts at the flea markets/yard sales. The handles were cut off the top of the bag above where the pretty bird drawing is.

This morning I finished up Angel's hand print zen doodle. I used water color pencils to color this in - you use very little water. Just enough to blend the colors.

And speaking…
