Down To The Finish Line

Well the fall/winter shows are upon me - like a wild beast. Some strange thing happened and in the last week I've ended up with 3 more shows. I'm excited about them all. I've posted the locations on my show tab so if you want to drop.

Everything is lining up and falling into place very well. The rush prior to the first show of the season is always crazy. This Thursday I will pack everything up and it will stay in go mode till mid December.  Then a bit of a quite time and no more shows till February.

I've been playing around with a new technique and it is a lot of fun.
Here are the first two experiments.

The weather is getting to the perfect stage for me - thou I will like
it even more when it drops around 60. Love fall so much.
The colors are the ones I love the most.

Changes

I seem to have a new grasp of time - it floats by me and I somehow seem to miss the on ramps. Even with these waves of time slipping in and out I do manage to get some things done. With a show fast approaching I have much to do and have not been on top of my normal game of getting it done. The maker of lists - is now losing her lists. The manic hammering flaming jewelry maker has gone into a cave someplace cause when I call her she can't be found. Even without her thou I have managed to get a good bit done for this show on Oct. 4th and 5th. Not my normal amount but it will do. I gave up on worrying about it and surrendered to embracing the amount I have done.

This past Friday I had very good mail and was once again blessed with a
wonderful heart felt gift.

This was created by a wonderful group of ladies from the Music City Modern Quilt Guild
They even had a secrete facebook page going to talk about this without me knowing.
I love civil war fabrics so they created me a nice modern version which will
very shortly be on my bed. Just perfect for one. They gave me all the left over
fabrics and I plan on very soon after the Oct show making pillow cases to go with this.

Our president made me this precious pin cushion with matching fabrics

Even thou this past week has been bumpy I did manage to at least
get a few pair of earrings done. The top one with bees is for me.
I seldom make things just for me but these are all mine.
The beautiful hand made beads are from Stinky Dog Beads.

Starting to get everything all tagged and ready - what a process!
I have gotten several new props for the booth and have done
a dry run set up of it all in the fabric room.
This will help me get it all packed too.

This will be my first show without my best buddy to help me.
He was such a trouper and would get up at the crack of dawn
to help me load the truck - I will think of him that whole weekend and
know he's proud of me for moving forward - it's a glass mountain
somedays and I just can't climb a single inch, but somehow I
manage to get a little further each day.

Looking Towards The Next Day

It seems that as much as I try I am not as organized as I was "before". So when I have a good day of getting things done and not getting side tracked - it most excellent! I have a show coming up in 4 weeks and need to be at my bench as much as possible - life does get in the way thou. There are those silly house chores, then work of course - if only all you had to do was play - but then as my sister in law will say - yea I've got this silly habit of needing to eating. So you try to push your art into your daily life.

I saw this posted on pinterest the other day
and it seemed so perfect

AN ARTIST
CANNOT FAIL
IT IS A SUCCESS
TO BE ONE
                                                                  Charles Horton Cooley

Well Mr. Cooley you are so correct. Today I received a letter from a show I had applied for. I'd sent in my application about 4-6 days before the deadline. It ended up they had a lot of jewelry folks apply and I didn't make it in. I was disappointed that I won't do this show, but for the first time I wasn't disappointed in myself or my art. Knowing you produce good work is a treasure in your soul and not letting anyone take that from you is a gift. My sweet Bobby gave me that gift. He had faith in me and what ever I did - and in time that faith became mine too. So it's easy to be a success - you just have to keep creating art.

These 3 pieces are formed around several
poly clay hearts I made a while back.

"Uncage My Heart"

"Key to My Happiness"

"Timelessness of Love"

Messing around with chalk paint again
on a frame I'll use in my booth
