The Non Rain Dance

With all the weather activity going on in the gulf I am doing the non-rain dance for this weekend. I am in a craft show this Saturday at Fontanel so I'm very hopeful the storm will diminish. Getting my stuff packed and keeping a good weather frame of mind.

Last week we went to Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art. The summer outdoor exhibition this year is treehouse. This was to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the first summer exhibition at Cheekwood, Terrific Treehouse. All the treehouse were designed by architects in the area.

We also walked threw the Japanese Garden, Shomu-en I could have hung out in this area for a long time.

As I was sitting in the dinning room having my morning coffee I looked over at my mix matched pillows on the couch in the living room and though why haven't I made those new pillows yet? So I went up and got the forms and cut the fabric and have 3 finished with just 2 more to go. Accent pillows are so quick and easy but for some reason I put off little projects like this. I guess they aren't as much fun.

Was looking threw an old copy of Belle Armoire Jewelry and this page made me think of all the old broken vintage jewelry I have squirreled away.  So this afternoon I plan on seeing what I can come up with.
I have been pretty busy getting ready for a show on Sept 1 at Fontanel and have been  cranking out a few new pieces of jewelry.   Pen nibs from the Tim Holtz collection with hammered copper washers.

My first try at cuff links. Do women wear cuff links? I have a desire to try making some that are "frilly".

Well I've got the petal to the floor today getting my fall swap as close to done as possible. One of the "rules" for the swap is that you need to use the section of fabric your swap partner sent you. I lucked up big time and got a beautiful section of rusted fabric. Just perfect for my fall leaves.

Below the first leaf I tried out.  My machine isn't liking the thickness, but in the end it will come around, it always does.
I was even brave enough to try out this antiquing solution I picked up at The Quilting Square a while back.  I'd already spent about 4 hours working on the  background but threw caution to the wind and sprayed this all over it.

Here is a little area showing how it looks.
I sent off the baby quilt, a swap, Etsy order and the application for The Fontanel Mansion  Whites Creek Craft Festival today.  There will be a lot of other events going on there the day of the festival. Full info an dates etc on the craft show page.

Now back to speed free motion.  Do I hea…
